I think I was named after a radio personality of the time, Nila Mack, though my mother was always a little vague about it. (I had five other sisters, all with fairly ordinary names.)
The name itself is not bad, but the first time I encountered the name I thought of Nilla wafers.

Nila is such a pretty name. I have seen it spelled Nyla and Nylah as well. I like the spelling Nyla. I also have seen it as an English form of Niles which means champion.
