Beautiful name. Went to school ages ago with a girl named Nadezhda. She told me that it was Russian for 'hope.' You would think that this might one of those names that's hard to recall, but I think it's actually the opposite- unforgettable after many years. Sounds gorgeous and has a lovely meaning.

This is my name. I am older than many of the bearers of this name I see. I am 86. Yes, it was definitely used before me. Think Nadezhda von Meck and Nadezhda Durova. It’s a very old name with a nice meaning.I love my name personally, some may call it old fashioned but remember that I am 86 so does it matter with me?Timeless classic name.
This is such a gorgeous name; the pronunciation is beautiful and the meaning is sweet, even the nickname Nadia is pretty! I much prefer this name to the blatant, "Hope".
"Nadejda" (the stress is on the "e") is a better Latin spelling than "Nadezhda", because anybody who does not know the name will possibly not pronounce "zh" as [j].
