My grandmother's name was Marion, but she always went by Mickey. I think it's a really nice name.
This name makes me strongly think of Mickey Mouse. It's a really cute nickname though. Especially for babies.
Just being real, but this name is gonna attract a lot of teasing. It’s just too associated with Mickey Mouse. I can totally see this name on a both girls and boys, though. I honestly prefer Mikey.
Can't take this name seriously.
Don't like the association with Mickey Mouse, but at least it's better than Mickey. Yickey!
Mickey? Reminds me of that stupid mouse. It’s fine on a child, but no one is a kid forever.
I’m a woman and my legal name is Micky, named after Mickey Mouse. My parents did not name me but gave that decision to my doctor whom happened to be a fan of the famous mouse. I grew up despising the 80s Toni Basil song or when people start spelling out the name, it still makes me cringe. I would never name my children after an animated fictional character like Mickey Mouse. As much as I thought about changing my name, too many people know me by my name that there’s really no reason to change it now. It’s grown on me in a way but for the longest time I hated Mickey Mouse and anything associated with him.
I'm okay with Mickey as a nickname for a little kid, or I guess for an adult, if they're into it. I think it's pretty juvenile, though. I'd much rather be Michael, Michaela, Michelle, etc. than Mickey. But my aunt has a cat named Mickey, and it's a very good cat name.
All I can think of is that catchy 80s song “Mickey” by Toni Basil.
My name is Mickey too. Some people call me Mickey Mouse and some call me Mickey Minaj.
My name is Michaela, but even at a young age, I disliked my name fervently. So, by fourth grade, I got everyone to call me Mickey. To this day, I am still Mickey to anyone who knows me. It has a bubbly and spirited sound and I've yet to meet another Mickey. Although Mickeys are bound to be serenaded on the daily with "Oh Mickey you're so fine!", it's a great nickname if you've got a lot of personality and a name that doesn't quite fit. People like it, so don't let the pop culture associations get in the way of a great nickname.
I hate this name. There's too many negative associations: Mickey Mouse, Mickey Knox, Mickey Rooney, Mickey Rourke, and that super-annoying 80s song Hey Mickey. Mickey Mouse is probably the most blatant one since he's Disney's mascot and he's got that ear-grating voice. Please consider something else for your kid!
My real name is MacKenzie. I've never really been called MacKenzie at all. Everyone calls me Mickey, it's quite rare for someone to call me MacKenzie. Personally, I love begin called Mickey. To me it sounds like a fun and playful name. I laugh all the time when people burst out singing "Oh Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind. Hey Mickey!"
I love Mickey Mouse so I have no problem with this name for either gender. ^_^
Could be short for Michaelina. All names have something tied to them. Mickey Mouse is not the worst thing in the world.
Ew. Yuck. Blegh. Worst name ever. Don't ever name your kids this, please! They won't appreciate it, especially if they're a girl. If its short for something, find a better nickname for them, don't let them go through life being called Mickey Mouse, trust me it's not fun.
The name Mickey was given to 72 baby boys born in the US in 2012.
I hate this nickname, and I hate Mickey Rooney. I don't have any issues with Mickey Mouse, though. Still, that's not who I want my name to be associated with.
Everyone will think of Mickey Mouse when they hear this name. It will lead to a lot of teasing. Maybe as a nickname, but certainly not as a legal name!
People might 'take the Mickey' out of it.
My cousin's name is Michael and he goes by Mickey. (Some family members do call him Mickey Mouse, but he doesn't mind). I've always thought that it was cute and a nice alternative to the usual nickname Mike. And if you wanted to call them Mick, you could do that too.
The Mickey Mouse association is pretty strong. It sounds too infantile as the official name anyway. For a girl, the nickname would be cute spelled Miki, but it's not a great official name.
Mickey is my first name. Personally I love it because I've yet to meet another Mickey, but I hate it because people often go off into spurts of singing "Hey, Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind. Hey Mickey, hey, hey, hey Mickey." Quite annoying, you know.
