A spelling mistake of a name which many pronounce as a car crash of sounds. A spelling mistake of of Michael, even with the letters in the order as supplied is not pronounced Mi-Heil as many seem to.
I don't mind when people use this knowing it's the Irish form, but I HATE seeing it because you know half the time it's just that the people don't know how to spell Michael properly or want to be 'different' (how different can you be with just a slightly different variant of one of the most popular names of the century?)

I agree. If you want the Irish form of Micheal, then spell it with the fadas; Mícheál. It makes all the difference. And come on, Micheal looks like a typo, and everyone would pronounce it just the same as Michael.

Personally I don't like the name much, but whatever that's just my opinion.
