Oh, I love it! Merry sounds a lot more charming and distinctive than typical names like Mary, Marcie, or Meryl. And besides, it can be a lovely nickname for other longer names, like Meredith, Meribeth, Merida or Merilyn. Yes, I definitely love it. Now that I think about it... isn't there a certain hobbit with the same name? I think I like it better now.
I like Merry!I really dislike to see it as nickname for an austere name like Mercy.Instead I love its simplicity, its Medieval vibe and its 'glee, cheerful' meaning.
It's pretty and sprightly. Once met a woman named Merry, who looked to be in her '50s or '60s. I always thought it must've been pretty neat for her to stand out among all the Mary's growing up.
My friends name is Marianna she goes by Merry. I also think that Merry would NOT be a good nickname for America. A girl I know goes by the name America. She does not like Merry but prefers Rica. I agree with her.
