I can't help but remember Melinda Gordon, the protagonist of Ghost Whisperer, a series that I grew up with over the years. I loved it. I have great affection for the name, although I admit that I have not heard it often. I don't understand it, because it's pretty. I prefer Melinda to Belinda, in my opinion.
Love both the names Melinda and Belinda, seems surprising no one has suggested Lindy as a nickname, as it sounds cute but still somewhat mature, though I prefer it as a nickname.
I never liked my name growing up but as I matured I guess I got used to it. My nickname was always Mendy. Most people I grew up with have no idea my name was actually Melinda. I have been called Melody, Melanie and Melissa. I don't know why some people find the name Melinda so hard to remember. I had one coworker that tried to tag me Mel. I shut that down quickly. No woman wants to be called a name that puts people in mind of a potbellied cook in a greasy spoon!
Cute name but it's a little too long and the nickname Linda sounds unappealing. Unless it were spoken in Spanish, which means beautiful, sweetheart or gorgeous. Together, I guess it would sound like "My love" if pronounced in Spanish.
My name's Melinda. I love the name my Mum has chosen for me. I was born in 1984 and I only knew a couple of other Melinda's growing up, I love that it is not overly used. I like my name and am not offended if someone else doesn't :) Plenty of names out there I dislike myself!
I didn't used to like this name, but it's grown on me. I associate it with a young doctor with green eyes (probably because of Melinda Goodwinter from the Cat Who series). I hate the nickname Linda though.

This has got to be one of the ugliest names I have ever heard, no offense.
I like neither the nickname Mel nor the name Linda, so the combination isn't going to sound good for me either. I just don't think it sounds all that pretty.
My name is Melinda, and for the most part I like it. However, for some reason it tends to get misspelled, like Malinda. And some people think it is long, so I get called Mel and Mel-Mel, especially on the volleyball court.
I love this name. I think it sounds really pretty and I have loved it since I first heard it (on Charmed). But I don't like any nicknames for it especially Linda (sorry if your name's Linda). I really hope it becomes popular again since it's on Ghost Whisperer (which I love by the way lol).

I love my name! :) Most of my friends and family call me Mellie now. But when I was younger it was Mindy. I've also been called Melynn, Mel, Lynn -- just about everything but Linda -- that's my mom!
I love it, and it sounds a bit like my own name (Matilda). The main character I my book (The Silver Triangel) is named Melinda. I think it's plain gorgeous.
I love this name, as it is my name. The thing is, as the website says, it's a modern name, coined in the 18th Century. It hasn't caught on yet. But it will. I love it because it's so pretty. I think it's as pretty as Isabella or Amelia. It just needs to catch on. I get Mellie a lot. I think Mellie or Melly is a very cute nickname.
I love the name Melinda. It is such a pretty name.

I love this name. I am surprised that it hasn't come back into popularity but on the flip side it is nice that it isn't overused. On the show Ghost Whisperer, the main character is Melinda Gordon played by Jennifer Love Hewitt.
