So simple and pretty. Makes me smile :)
This is a great middle name.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this name. Although I know no one named May, it sounds so pretty! I love it!
It’s a cute anagram of Amy and Mya and would be excellent twin / triplet names.
Works great as a middle name. Is my favorite middle name actually.
It's a very pretty month name like April, June, August, Winter and Summer buttt people would probably make jokes about your name.
May…simple, sweet, vintage, beautiful. I’d love to see a little girl named May, or, even better, have one of my own. I’d consider it as a nickname for Mabel or Mavis, names I love, or just as a lovely stand-alone. I’d also use it to honour my mother who has a similar name.
It makes a lovely first name. I prefer this spelling to Mae or Mai - they just look like misspellings to me. I know SO many girls my age with May/Mae/Mai as a middle name - it’s as common as Rose in my area. That’s why I prefer Rose and May as first names, sweet and beautiful in their simplicity.
It makes me think of pastel pink and little white flowers, so I love it.
I’m male and my name is May.
It’s such a pretty flowery name and despite it being a more feminine name, I really really like it :]
Very pretty sounding, very pretty month, I love it but I do think it sounds incomplete on its own. Emma May is pretty!
Very pretty. I like it hyphenated to another first name.
Very basic but cool I guess. Way better than Mae.
It's adorable! May is a very sunny month where I live! :)
My parents don’t like this name because it’s the name of a month, nevermind! I hate it now!
It's missing something...
Love the season May, but doesn't sound good on a girl for some reason.
It's too simple by itself. This name is best when it's paired with another name.
I knew a girl who spelt this Mae but I prefer this spelling better, it’s just cuter and looks complete.
This is my middle name and I love it. It’s beautiful, short, sweet & not common. I prefer my May spelling or Mai, Mae is old fashioned.
To the commenter below me, what’s wrong with common and old fashioned names? Are they terrible just because they are common and old fashioned?
May is a really pretty name.
Cute.
Nah, May from Junie B. Jones was a bad seed, and a bully. Also for names of months, I prefer June. (not because of Junie B. Jones.)
Can be short for Mayonnaise.
Simple yet classic. Nice name by itself.
May is a sweet old-fashioned name, fresh and springlike. While it's quite a common middle name, I also love it as a first name, or a nickname for Mary or Margaret.
I like it, but I would spell it Mae.
It is pretty good and I like it.
I like May. It's sweet, and girly, and a flower name. Also I'm not against the fact that it is a month name. It looks way more elegant than Mae for me. But oh my God it's so overused as a middle name. I mean, it really fits with almost any name, but sometimes when I see that so many people have May as their middle name, I get the impression that their parents just didn't have any other, more original idea. Although I like when May is part of a double name, either as first or middle, or of a hyphenated name, or a nickname, for Maya, Maia, Mary, Margaret... And I think it should be used more as a first name, it's so charming. But not without any middle name, it's so short it that should be followed by something in my opinion.
Nice middle name, but it is a month so why can't all months be names? Sorry, not a first name.
Both my grandmother's middle names were May/Mai, so I got Mai as a middle name as well. I like it. I think it makes a nice first name. It's pretty and retro.
My middle name is May and I have always hated the association with the month, plus its length and ending.
Do not like it. Seems very lazy and like my wicked stepmother's name would be Miss May.. don't know why I don't like it. Simple enough, just too plain.
May is such a pretty, pretty name! It's a perfect forename and it also makes a perfect middle name for lots of combos so you really can't complain over this name! :) Arghh, I love this name so much. ♥.
May is my middle name. I'm Elly May, people always think that that is my full first name when it isn't but I like May. It was my great grandmothers name.
I had a (now elderly neighbour) called May - a real livewire who had a white poodle called Remus and a white cat called Mimi and was quite unforgettable in many ways. Her sister was called Gwen and was as quiet a May was extrovert.
So when I see the name May I always think (fondly)of my ex-neighbour though the name to me is a tad boring.I only like the name if it signifies the hawthorn flower and the baby is born when that flower is in bloom. The name is too blah otherwise, and Margaret and Mary are better (but not Mabel - awful frumpy name).
I really love this name; I think it'd work best as a middle name, but it sounds just as great to be used as an everyday nickname as well. Strong, feminine, and sophisticated.
May is such a sweet name, not to mention I love the month of May. I think it should be used more as a first name!
As a general rule, I don't like month names (May, June, September, etc.). But I will admit that May can make a nice middle name. I'd never use it, though.
It's a month and very easy to remember. My personal opinion says that I like it for a middle name unless something is added to it, then I take it as a first name.
I think this name is simple and pretty, and also has a little touch of something extra about it. Because May Day is a time for fertility rituals and traditionally a time to deflower willing - or unwilling - virgins, there is something slightly sexy and illicit about it as well. It's a "still waters run deep" name.
Really outdated. It another boring 3 letter name.
Although it may (haha!) seem a bit quaint nowadays, it's very gentle and pretty - perfect for a girl born in the month of the same name.
May is one of my least favorite names. 3 letter names are sorta ridiculous.
I find this name very nice, but simple and short. It sometimes seems like a nickname for something.
My mates think this is an old woman's name when it isn't. I love it!
Most people are saying how much they like it as a middle name but I actually prefer it as a first. It's simple and pretty and yet very rarely ever heard as a first name (well that's as far as I've heard).
May is a pretty middle name. My mom's middle name is May.
I love the name May as a middle name but not as a first. I would have my second girl be named cassandra May.
I think May is such a lovely name! I'd like to have a daughter named Avril May. LOL that's like April May but Avril is much better in my opinion. Okay I'm only 13 so I have plenty of time to think about this.
It is a really nice name, I like it. I might name my daughter Jaidenne May.
This name is short and sweet. Very easy to remember. I like most flower names, and this is one of my favourites.
I prefer the spelling Mae.
I love the name May or Mae. I think I would use it as a middle name though. But it's very pretty.
I think May is a very sweet name. I know a Lauren May and a Shannon May. I think it's nice as a middle name, nicer as a first name and also as a nickname for Maia.
This is such a sweet name. I think of a dark eyed girl with a windy smile and happy demeanor.
Makes a great middle name.
It is a great name even though it is a month it is also quick and simple to remember.
