In Italy Maurizio was very fashionable in the middle of the 20th century: it was the 8th most popular name in Rome in 1941, the 5th in 1946 (behind Roberto, Franco, Giuseppe and Mario), the 4th in 1951 (behind Roberto, Claudio and Massimo), the 5th in 1956 (behind Roberto, Claudio, Massimo and Stefano), the 6th in 1961 and the 12th in 1966. It is not very popular today.
