This name just happens to be my name, Mathilde Liseanne. I always pronounced it differently than Ma-teeld though. I was always a bit embarrassed by my name. It wasn't easy growing up with it... I got picked on. Kids are so mean.
This is a really pretty name! I like it pronounced just like Matilda, not ma-TEELD as others have said, but both are correct. This name gives me a very medieval, old-fashioned vibe.
Mathilde is such a gorgeous and beautiful name! I like it better than Matilda! Mathilde is so sweet and soft, and beautiful! A beautiful classic!

This is a gorgeous name. Perhaps I like it a lot because of, as noted above, Mathilde in “A Very Long Engagement” but I just think it’s so much lovelier than Matilda (or, for that matter, lovelier than the spelling Matilda).I agree; I love the ‘H’ in the middle. I do think that, as someone said, it gives it a sort of ‘grit’ or grittiness. I love the pronunciation ma-TEELD; I think it’s so beautiful. Stunning!
I find this spelling very unique! I think that it is just as beautiful as Matilda, but something about this spelling makes me love this name even more. (:
I quite like this name, which is strange, considering I somewhat dislike the name Mathilda. At any rate, I think the "H" in the name gives it grit and makes it interesting.
Pretty, but I hate the "H" in the middle. I've always believed it was pronounced "Mafild(e)" but "Mateeld" sounds so much better. I like the name Matilda better, though.

Very beautiful-looking. Yeah, it's better than plain old 'Matilda.'
