This name reminds me of water because of the ‘marsh’ part. I like it much better than any of the names that actually mean water. Additionally, my mom loves horses and she will most likely not meet or be able to spend much time with her grandchildren (because she had me at a late age and it looks like I am on the same trajectory), so I might use it for my first son, even though I do have one other boy name that I like a bit better.
I rate it 2/10. It sucks and I don’t like it. I'm changing it later in life.

I rate Marshall 6/10.It is an old favourite of mine but it is no longer in my list. The fact is that it is a military word and then its sound is too similar to 'marsh' and 'marshmallows' to be a good given name.
My seven year old son's name is Marshall. We are a horse family so "Keeper of the Horses" was very appropriate and my husband loves old westerns. We have never had people look at us weird for naming him Marshall, but he is the only Marshall in school. Love it.
I can't associate this name with anything other than Eminem, and to me, that's not a positive thing. If this wasn't a problem, I would think it was a fine name for a boy.
This is the best name ever, I love it even if it does come with some bad nicknames. I grew used to the nicknames, so they don't bother me anymore. I can't imagine how you couldn't like this name.
Before I didn't understand the reason that my father gave me this name, despite being a girl. As a child, my friends at school teased me saying that I wasn't feminine; nowadays it doesn't matter to me. I have friends who like my name and say 'it's cool!'. Frequently I receive e- mails at work addressed "Mr. Marshall"... especially the new suppliers; but I'm still proud of this name.
Good name, but don't like the name just because of some celebrity. The name has been around way before him.

This is my sons name and I love it! He has only just turned one and he gets a lot of positive comments about his name. Most people have never come across another Marshall. It may be an old name but he pulls it off! I think it fits in with all the very common surname type names (Mason, Cooper, Fletcher etc) but a lot less common!
Now I like Eminem as much as the next person but even he cannot really pull off this name. In his case it was already a family name (he's the third) and the man is going on 40. That just shows how very old-fashioned this name is. For me, Marshall conjures up the image of an overweight 80 year old man who constantly laments about how much better everything was back in the day. I cannot picture this name on anyone under 65. It also makes me think of "Marsha" and marshmallow. So I'm definitely not a fan.
Are you guys kidding me? It means "horse servant", and, I guess because I watch a lot of historical movies and such- I always picture a guy in livery uniform leading horses around. The word itself seems a little heavy on the consonants.
I love this name. Plain and simple. This is the best name ever and I think it is beautiful. Marshall is an amazing name! My most favorite boy name in the whole world.
This name has grown on me. It is a nice gentle sounding name and not overused. Very masculine name too.

I love the name Marshall. It seems formal yet modern, and it portrays a boy as gentleman-like, even though it is Eminem's name. Yet that just makes the name cooler!
