I think Marion is a beautiful name for males and females. It is strong and classy, and I love its pleasant meaning: “Beloved star of the sea”. I also think it ages flawlessly, as I can picture it on a person of any age. Overall, I think Marion is a wonderful name.
Its -ion end is masculine, but why does it have the same pronunciation as Marian? (Though that's also unisex to some extent.) I thought Marion's pronounced MEHR-ee-ahn / MAR-ee-awn. Maybe it should be when it's on a male. For a girl, Marian is better, except you want her to be very tough.
Right now I’m reading a book with a character called Marion in it. I completely thought it was a boy at first until I saw ‘her’ referring to Marion in one of the sentences. I completely thought it was for males. Maybe it was a subconscious thing.Anyways, this name is actually quite nice. I prefer it on a male if not it’s fairly unisex.
It is from a surname derived from a feminine name, the name of the mother of Jesus, so it has always seemed more feminine to me for that reason.

I like it for a guy. I imagine him having the swagger of John Wayne and the tenderness of Ashley from Gone with the Wind. I have to say that I don't agree with the taboo on giving feminine-sounding or unisex names to boys and men.

This name sounds too feminine for a male in my opinion. I guess because it starts with MARI like Marianna. Not to mention there is little difference between the sound of Marion and Maryanne. It just doesn't cut it for me.
