Margarete

Margarete is used in Paul Celan's 1948 poem "Todesfuge." Her name is a reference to the character in Goethe's Faust.

Margarete (1325-1374) was the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV and his wife Margarete.

Princess Margarete, Countess of Snowdon and Princess of Scotland. She was born August/21/1930. Being the youngest daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and sister of the current British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margarete led rather disapointing romances in her early life.
When she met and married Antony Armstrong-Jones and had his title changed to Earl of Snowdon and Princess (Queen) Margarete took up Countess of Snowdon. Sadly, after battling a series of strokes, Countess Margarete passed away Feb/2/2002 in the hospital.
