I saw that email and when I was looking for a name for my dog who had been severely abused before I got her. She made it through all that so I wanted something strong. I use the boys version for her which the English version means strong little warrior. I like that as well!
My name is Malin (I'm Swedish) but yes from what I know it doesn't mean anything in Swedish, it comes from Magdalena from the Bible. I've always gotten a lot of compliments on my name but people often pronounce it wrong. The correct pronunciation is rhyming with Stalin. In London people seem to always think my name is Marlin, but Americans usually get it right! When I lived in LA people were quite good at pronouncing the name correctly.
I like this name, but since I speak French, I can't shake the meaning the name has in French, either "clever" (un enfant Malin - a clever/crafty child) or "evil" (des esprits malins - evil spirits).
Malin... does anyone know exactly what it means? I saw a tattoo of a broken arrow with the front and tail of the arrow looking like an infinity sign. The ink is interesting but if I can't find the exact meaning, then all my research is for naught. Too many different meanings in all these comments, so seriously... does anyone know for sure what it means?
Malin does mean "trofast, trogen." And most like every name, all of them have their own meanings. Ok, it's true that Malin is a Swedish version of "Magdalena" but that's just the history. But it means "true, faithful."
