My name is Maile. So many people pronounce my name wrong and I’m always having to correct them. The boys in my class sometimes like to joke around and call me Miley Cyrus. I let it go, I have been getting it my whole life. But for the people who were wondering how to say it here’s how: MY-Lee.

My daughter was named after a good friend of mine, who was Hawaiian (she passed away before my daughter's birth). Her name and my daughter's name is Maile. She pronounced her name "My-Lee"... and, we have followed suit with the same pronunciation. It is a beautiful name and spelling.

My name is Maile. For me, It's always been pronounced "My-lee," but on the internet it can be "mai-ley" or even "May-lee" I personally prefer "My-lee" since it's too easy to say. It's spelled simply and kinda complicated but it's really easy to say.

My last name is MAILE and it is pronounced MAIL-E.

With my name I have noticed a very slight different between my name and the name Miley, particularly in what part of the name is emphasized. For me the emphasis is a bit stronger on the first part of the name, the Mai, while with Miley I find the emphasis is a bit more on the --ley.

I met a Maile the other day. She's Hawaiian. It's pronounced May-leh.

I don't get where the idea that the Hawaiian e sound is equal to the English one comes from. It is NOT pronounced My-lee, people. Dante is Dan-tay, not Dan-tee, right? But to be fair, most English speakers have a hard time with the Hawaiian e. But if they actually attempted to pronounce it correctly it should come out My-leh or at least My-lay. The correct pronunciation is hard to explain but I'm just so sick of people who know nothing about the Hawaiian language insisting that it's pronounced like Miley. I adore the name Maile but HATE Miley.
