My name is Margaret, and I've always gone by Maggie. I love my name, but it is a little annoying when people call me "Maggot" or "Mags." Mags isn't so bad, but I only like certain people calling me that. I still really like the name.
Again, my name is Margaret, and I go by Maggie. Margaret is not my "real name," which insinuates that Maggie is not my name. My name is Maggie, and it is also Margaret. Can't I be both? Also, while I love Maggie, I'm kind of glad it's a nickname because Margaret Rebecca Jacob (I'm not saying my last name but it is a vegetable) sounds better than Maggie Rebecca Jacob (last name), and I'm named after one of my favorite aunts.
Is this a short form of Margaret or what. Because, as a full name it looks boring, but as a short form it's just fine. Not bad, but also not so good. I don't like it much!
My name is Margaret, Maggie for short. People call me Maggittt and Maggue for laughs. I always have thought it sounded a bit childish and the name Margaret will be the death of me. When I was younger I wanted to be named Megan so badly. Other than that it's not a bad name.
I quite like his as a cute nickname, but it sounds quite mature as well. This was my mom’s nickname when she was a child (her name is Margaret), but I also know a Magdalene who goes primarily by this name. I like it a lot!

I have a friend named Maggie. Honestly, this is a very pretty name but I think it really just depends on the bearers' character.

I really love this name, it's very pretty and works for any age. It's my cousins name.
My full name is Maggie, not Margaret or Magdalena. I personally always liked it growing up, but getting older everyone assumes my name is Margaret and it is quite annoying. I'd rather be a Margery/Marjorie or Margot than Margaret.
This name is better as a diminutive of Magnolia or Magdalene or Magdalena than the ugly Margaret. Plus, it doesn't really make sense that Maggie is even a diminutive of Margaret! Maggie's a pretty and good name though.

I don't understand why people think that my real name is the very ugly Margaret. My real name is Maggie and my wonderful sister named me that when I was born. Sometimes people would say "Margaret!" When they're calling out to me and I don't think that they're talking to me and then they walk over to me and yell at me for not coming over. I don't get why people think that I would want to be called by my "real" name. If I introduce myself as Maggie then it's Maggie! I think that Maggie is a great name just by itself and I very much recommend this name as a name for a future daughter.

My name is Maggie and I love it. No, my "real" name is not Margaret or anything else. It's just Maggie. I think it is cute and sweet and I am an adult so there are adult Maggies out there!

Whoever decided the name Maggie was okay is wrong. I don't know what else to say, it's just the worst ever.
Too youthful for an adult, but with a full name of Magdalene, Maggie is the cutest nickname in the world for a little girl, until she's older like 17 or 18.
I really like the name Maggie, but only as a nickname. I like it best as a nickname for Margaret, but it would also work for Magdalene or Magnolia. I just think that once Maggie's an adult, she needs a more professional name to use.

I agree with the comment above. Maggie as a full name sounds a little unprofessional, but I love it as a nickname for Margaret. If I named my daughter Margaret, I'd probably call her Maggie or Mae as a nickname, although I think the name Margaret is really pretty on its own :)
I've always had problems with people not believing my name was Maggie on my birth cert! I've never minded it as I was always the only Maggie in school. I was called after my grandma and it's a name most used for dogs and in made for tv movies ha! But as I get older I don't mind it too much and I love Rod Stewart's Maggie May, puts me in a good mood usually! Sad to see all the negative press about it!
In my opinion, this name is ugly. No offense to anyone with the name, but it doesn't sound right. It's more suitable as a nickname, even though I hate it as that too. I hate the nicknames Gabby & Maggie, especially as names!

Whats the big deal with all these Maggie Moos. It's so annoying and I don't see why any one would name their kid Maggie Moo (lastname).

Uhh, sorry about my comment up there in 2009. I was immature back then, and I somehow didn't realize that Maggie Moo is a nickname. As a nickname, it's cute.

Ugh, I'm sorry to say that this name both sounds and looks awful. No reason in particular, but it just seems plain ugly. No offense to all the Maggies out there!
My own name is Maggie. It's short for Margaret, though the only people who ever call me that are just trying to be a pain. I love my name, personally. It's not overused, and I think it's cute. Although, other pains find it funny to use insults according to the name such as Miggie (don't ask), or Maggot. Although I really hate the name Margaret, my middle name would sound stupid next to Maggie. Margaret Alice sounds much better than Maggie Alice.
This was the name of the dog I had when I was a teenager. My sisters and I named her after the song "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. I've known a human Maggie and I liked her. In spite of this, I've always felt that this was the worst nickname for Margaret. I guess because, as the other posters have pointed out, it makes me think of "maggot".
I like the name Maggie. It's one of my favorites for a girl. Technically it is short for Margaret, but I would name my daughter Magdalene and use Maggie as her nickname.
