My name is Lisette, and since my family is Spanish-speaking we all pronounce it (and it was meant to be pronounced) like the French: lee-SET, not lih-ZEt. Unfortunately, whenever I introduce myself to English-speakers, they hear "Lisa" even though the emphasis is on the second, not the first, syllable. Interestingly, Spanish-speakers hear me just fine and never call me Lisa. Other than that, I love my name. People always comment on it, once I spell it for them.

The correct French pronunciation is lees-ET, not liz-ET, like many Americans tend to pronounce it.
