I can only see this spelling pronounced lay-uh. Leah pronounced lay-uh doesn’t make sense. Only the lee-uh pronunciation make sense to me for Leah. Also I don’t think the Star Wars association is a bad association at all. I personally think it’s a good association.
This is so pretty! It sounds amazing, pretty, and calm. I love it. I do like Leah just as much as this, and they both come from the Bible. I don't watch Star Wars, so I don't care for that association.
I believe this is a pretty name, and I love the space vibe (Star Wars). I prefer it over Leah.

I say Leia and Leah differently, so to me they aren't the same at all. I don't see any issue with it being associated with Star Wars. She was a badass character.
My friends named their daughter Carileia Eve. She was born on the New Year's Eve right after Carrie Fisher died. I know, I know... it's a portmanteau and a lot of people here hate that sort of thing. Ordinarily I do, too; I think it's corny. But I think this one is at least pretty, even if I would have gone with Carrie Leia or Leia Carrie myself (if I were as huge a Star Wars fan as my friends are).

I suspect that the name Leia will increase in popularity, particularly in the United States, in the wake of Carrie Fisher's death. Although by itself, I think Leia is quite pretty. It's just that this spelling has become almost synonymous with Star Wars.
It's a cool name, mostly because of the Star Wars association. Sadly, the association makes it awkward to use for a child, and feels like copying if used writing, so it's kind of unusable. But don't name your twins Luke and Leia. That's just dumb.

This name is really nice! If I ever did have a daughter in the future this will be her name, or it might be Leah but I will pronounce it LAY-a.
It's weird how there are 2 Leia pages on this site.By the way, Leia is a nice name although it does make the parents look like hardcore Star Wars fans.
I hate this name. But I like the name Leah! If you spell it like this then you are a chav. Simple as.

I LOVE Star Wars, but quite a few fans name their kids Leia. I'd personally prefer to branch out and hit on more discreet ones from the Expanded Universe. Say Callista or Marasiah.

It's pronounced almost like the Finnish word "leija" which means kite. I think it's sweet. I don't like the Star Wars-reference, but it's a nice simple name.
No matter what -Star Wars or not- I think Leia is a really cool name. Star Wars just makes it better! =) I don't personally like the name Leah so this is a much better choice. I would name my daughter Leia.
