My personal thoughts on Lawrence are that it is a fine name that is not as common as it might have been some eighty years ago. Granted it is rather soft in sound, but has a good ring to it that I really enjoy hearing. :)

I’m a girl and my name is Lawrence. At first I didn’t like my name because everyone always mistook me for a boy. I have a feminine middle name though. I’m Lawrence Julia! Julia is my grandmother’s first name. My mom loves boy names on girls, but only as first names and not for middle names, and she would treat girls more like girly girls with boyish names as I was a girly princess at age 1. Boy names on girls that are unique for girls should only be used for girls when paired with a trendy girl's name like Sophia. I love my name now, because it’s uncommon for a girl and I like how my middle name is a trendy girl’s name. I’ve only met boys with my name, no girls! Well to be honest, Lawrence is not suitable for a boy at all! It’s so pretty and girly. Girls must stick together! I don’t even like when boys are named Michael as it’s so unique for a girl, though I would hate to see a boy named Sophia as it’s actually not unique for a boy. I don’t know any name that I like for a boy since boys suck and girls rule! I hope I have a girl! I want to name her Mason Ava:)

That's a ridiculous argument. You are basically saying that girls should always be given boys names and boys shouldn't be given names at all, which is not true. Lawrence is a very masculine name and I cannot picture it on a girl. I can't see the name Larry on a girl either. There are girls that suck and boys that rule too, you know?
