I really wish I had been called this name as so many people think I look like Lara Croft from Rise Tomb Raider! She’s also my favorite game character! It’s a beautiful, youthful name. So much better than Helen (my name :(….) It’s prettier than Laura too.

Lara is a lovely, simple name! One of my best friends has this name, and it suits her perfectly - pretty, happy, mature, no nonsense. I prefer it to Clara - without the C, it has so much more character, youthfulness and freedom. It just entered the England and Wales top 100 - people are finally waking up and realising what an amazing name it is!

I despise this name. Lara Trump makes it worse but even without her is a bad name.

What a beautiful name this is. Not one you see very often (which may make it even more appealing to some) and somewhat underappreciated. Anyone with this name is truly lucky. If you’re considering it for a child then I say go for it.

I like this name, "Lara". It's like a little lady with a beautiful soul and physically gorgeous. This is the name of my daughter.

Less common and a good alternative to Lauren and Laura.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a variant of Laura. I read a book with this in it once, where Lara was a kind, understanding girl who wouldn't give up despite what was thrown at her. It helped improve my view of this name, but I still prefer Laura a little more.

I'm not a fan of this name. It's like a trashy version of Laura (which isn't a good name either).

I think this name is so pretty except when people mistake it for Laura. Laura is boring. I think this is different and unique.

This is one of my favourite names for a girl. It's beautiful sounding, utterly feminine without being frilly and refreshingly underused in this day and age of Emma, Isabella, Madison, Olivia, Hannah, etc.

Lara is a nice alternative to the overused Laura.

Beautiful and not that common either. It's just a really unique name. Hugely suggest naming your child this. :)

Sometimes pronounced the same as "Laura", but I think LAH-rah is more distinctive and gives it a Slavic accent.
