Lance is fine but Lancelot is pretenious and preppy!

Before a competition last year my teacher was reading out the names of people in the other teams. One of these people was called Lancelot. When she read out his name the entire class burst out laughing. Somehow I think that's going to be the reaction of most people when modern day Lancelot's tell them their names.

You have got to be kidding me. This name sounds pretentious and ridiculous, and it is forever attached to King Arthur. And imagine all of the immature and vulgar jokes. Please, save yourself some embarrassment and choose something else!

It seems like a pompous and pretentious name to choose today.

Much like Guinevere. I'm surprised his lover's name gets a pass from people and Lancelot with the convenient and mainstream nickname of Lance, does not.
