I used to not like my name (my name is Kenna), but I eventually grew to love it although it is very annoying when people call me McKenna. I could imagine Kenna as a medieval name.
I was born in the 70’s and have lived most of my life thinking that I was mostly alone with my name. It is nice to see so many people who also enjoy the name. I am not trying to be mean but it is annoying to be asked if my name is short for MacKenna. Kenna is my name.

I don't particularly like it that much, but I definitely prefer this over McKenna.
I’m 50 and my name is Kenna. In my opinion, there is NO BETTER name for a female. The name has been a blessing for me throughout life. It has made me strong within myself and unique in every way possible. Yes, my dad’s name is Kenneth George, my grandfather's name was George Kenneth and mine is Kenna Georgina. I am VERY self-confident, I hate lying, cheating others and I’m solid in everything that I do and say. I would have no other name!
Much better than the trendy disgusting McKenna which sounds like a surname.

I've come to understand Kenna to divine princesses because the only 2 Kennas I've experienced where without a doubt, both attractive and intelligent godesses deserving of worship. The name Kenna brings anxiety because these goddesses make me run and stutter like a 13 year old boy. Holy maneaters. They scare the frickin' crap outta me.
My name is McKenna, but I've gone by Kenna for a long time. I love my name, and so do my friends. I was looking up nicknames that my niece could use for me and one I found was Na Na, or just Na since babies can't pronounce many things. My friends come up with different names for me like Kenanana or Keena, one even calls me Jenna after an autocorrected text. Kenna isn't the easiest name to shorten since it is already so short and often used as a nickname. I have met a lot of McKennas Makennas and Mackennas but so far I'm the only one who goes by Kenna. I love both names though I prefer Kenna. It's short and sweet, fiery and bright, and beautiful. A definition I found for Kenna was good looking which is accurate if I do say so myself. I have a high confidence level and I have ADHD and so the definitions fit me well.

I named my daughter Kenna. I was looking for something different. I had already named her older sister Keelin, so I couldn't give her a common/popular name. I settled on Kenna and I love the name. She is pretty sensitive about people assuming she is a McKenna or MaKenna - she will flat out say there is no "Mc" or "Ma" in front of her name - lol. I had never heard or known anyone with the name before I named my daughter, although, about 9 months after her birth, there was a tropical storm named "Kenna". I thought that was very interesting. Her sister and friends tend to call her "Ken". Her sister has also used the nicknames "Kenny" and "Kendra". Lol Seriously, I thought I chose names where nicknames weren't needed, but I guess I was wrong. :)
I love this name. When I was younger and looking to change my name, I originally chose Kenna. I wish I had stuck with it. I thought I had made it up at first, but I'm glad I didn't, because it's so pretty and I think more people need to hear it!
I am named Kenna after my late father, Kenneth. I was born in 1958. My husband and I named our only daughter Kenna. FWIW my father's family ancestry is Scottish. I love this name! It's origin, at least within our family line, is that it is a feminized version of Kenneth.
This is my name and I've always loved it! It makes sense that it means 'born of fire' because, as much as I wish I could, I can never seem to calm down or bring myself to follow a rule if I don't agree with it (which often gets me in a lot of trouble :/)Lol, I remember in kindergarten, I thought it was call Kenna-garden xD.
My name is Kenna and my whole life I've been called McKenna, I never find any personalized things with my name on it, I was named after my grandpa Kenneth.
My Daughter's name is Kenna Nicole Ann (and last name). She was named after a very dear friend of mine and her father's. Kenna (Our friend), Kenna, our daughter, and one other Kenna about my daughter's age are the only three I have ever heard of... she gets a little upset when we can't find her name on mugs and key chains (novelty items when we visit places) but she loves her name. Her friends do as well. I bet she gets babies named after her by her friends...
So I originally commented saying that I'd never met anyone with my name before. I've recently met two little girls named Kenna. The name is experiencing an upswing in popularity maybe?

That's funny, my husband and I plan on naming our baby girl "Kenna" because my maiden name is Kennedy. I think it's a lovely name!

VERY lovely name! For all of you haters, just lay off, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say ANYTHING at all.

It just doesn't sound right to me. On the one hand, it sounds like Ken with an 'a' added to it. On the other hand, it sounds like one of these tacky names that sound strange on grown-ups. The name simply lacks all beauty and sophistication.
My daughter's name is Kenna, and yes, she was named after my father, Kenneth. At the time, I thought I had made up the name. As I read the postings from ALL THE OTHER KENNAS I have to think you're all not as alone as you thought you were! In our experience though, we've only met one other Kenna and she was a Dutch stewardess. Random, huh? Anyway, we have since found references for Kenna in Scandanavian and Irish. One meant "fire spirit" and the other meant "beloved" (as in the Eng word, "ken"). My Kenna doesn't get the "McKenna" thing too much but she does get asked if she was named after a country in Africa! No biggie. Mostly, her name fits her and she is a vibrant, artistic, spunky, self-possessed young woman (born in '84). It's a pretty name and we all still really love it.
I didn't like having this name as a kid because no one else did, and I wanted to have a name buddy too. :( But I got over it. It still makes me really, really angry, though, when people ask me if my name is short for McKenna.

A pleasant and much classier alternative to the tacky, overused McKenna.

I was born in 1980. My father's name is Kenneth, so I was aptly named Kenna. My mother's name is Bambi, so I'm glad they chose Kenna instead of Bambina. I've never met another Kenna spelled exactly the same, and most people can't pronounce it correctly. I also can never find personalized things in my name, but there is always stuff for McKenna. I personally love my name, and its uniqueness.
