According to Name Berry, this name also means "island."
I am a 37 year old female Kelsey, and I was named for my great-grandfather who was born and raised in Ireland in 1886. He was the FIFTH male Kelsey in his family line! My generation were all daughters, so my parents honored him by giving their oldest daughter his name. In family documents from the 1800's, the family believed the name to mean "Brave" or "Warrior" although it didn't translate directly in Irish, Gaelic, Scots or Welsh. My middle name, Leigh, means "Healer" so I'm a "Brave Healer." True enough, as I am a therapist who works with teens with addiction and mental illness, healing minds, and helping them to battle their demons. It suits me, and I love it!
A place name from North Kelsey or South Kelsey in Lincolnshire, England.
Well my name is Kelsey, and it is an Irish and Scandanavian name. So yeah. :D
I have seen this name listed as Scandinavian and also Celtic/Gaelic.
Actually I think Kelsey comes from Norway or Scandinavia.
Kelsey actually for the female means female warrior.
I believe that Kelsey is Celtic in origin and both of the disputed meanings are somewhat correct because it means dweller at ship island.
