Regarding the Kashi food brand (now a subsidiary of Kellogg's), the company name is a blended term derived from “kashruth, ”meaning kosher or pure food, and “Kushi," the last name of the founder of American macrobiotics, Michio Kushi. I agree that the Hindi name is nice, but not recommended for use in countries where Kashi products are widely sold.

Kashi would've been a cute name, but I wouldn't name a child this because of the cereal product.
