'So put me on a wheelchair, and get me to the show, hurry hurry hurry, before I have to go, I cant control my fingers, I cant control my toes oh no no no oh noooo!' - Joey Ramone, lead singer of The Ramones.
Joey Ramone (1951-2001) was the lead vocalist of the New York punk rock band the Ramones. He was one of the founding members of the band in 1974, and stayed as a member until they disbanded in 1996. Joey wrote many of the Ramones' most famous songs, including "I Wanna Be Sedated", "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" and "Bye Bye Baby". He also had a lead role in the cult teen film "Rock 'n' Roll High School" and produced his own solo album near the end of his life. Interestingly, because all the members of the band invented new names for themselves, Joey Ramone was not his real name; he was born Jeffry Hyman, but decided to call himself Joey when the Ramones began, and kept the name even after the band had split up.
