The United states of America is rather notorious worldwide as being a somewhat lawless land for names (other countries have gone as far as to have "approved lists" - while that may chafe many people who love America's "freedom" in this realm, sometimes I earnestly pity kids whose names are clearly torture devices). *However*, we do have one rule: no accented characters. That is likely the only reason Joaquin exists: everywhere else, he would spell his name Joaquín - that's even how they would write his name - and it would basically be the same thing.
