As a surname, I really like this name. As a first name, I hate it. As someone named Jeffrey, you might as well just name your kid Jeffrey/Jeffery. It just sounds better, and more complete as a name. But despite my hatred for this name as a first name, Jefferson as a last name is pretty cool.

I really don't care about the connection to Jefferson Davis; I think this name is cool.
My husband's name is Jefferson and it suits him perfectly. He is very successful and many people comment on his name and are impressed by it. I would never have liked the name had I not met him but because he is such a strong male he carries the name beautifully. I love the name.

I don't like it. Why not just Jeffery? Imagine how weird it would be on a white person, too.
I don't know why, but it seems to me like this name is lacking something--like it it is a little flat. Maybe the lack of articulated stress on a particular syllable?
