I use Jay as short for Jason. "Jaya" had become a family nickname from an early age because of how my niece pronounced Jay. I like this one as once I looked into it I found that it's the Sanskrit for "victory". I named my kid JJ, Jason Jr.

My friend is callled Jay Jay, but her real name is Jorrellaine. I'm sure it can be used for females as well, I don't know why it's only clasified as masculine.
