While I like Jane, Janet, Jenny, Jenna, etc... "Janice" for some reason makes me cringe. It's probably the final syllable that makes it sound like "pumice", "hummus" or even "anus".
I am a Janice. Often I wished my parents had chosen a less “boring” name, but after all, I now prefer to be boring and not rude. I had the distinction of being the bearer of a less-than-common name, for sure. There were a Janis and a Janet in my class at school, and as far as I recall, we were the only three in the entire school.
Besides finding it somewhat dated, Janice is a decent enough name. However, for personal reasons, to which I will not mention, I fail to see myself ever obsessing over this name.

We had a family friend with this name and she was a very nice woman so I SHOULD associate this name with her and like it. But it is pronounced just like the adjective 'janus' and that has negative connotations i.e. two-faced, duplicitous. Although that is technically 'janus-faced'. The Roman god Janus with his two faces is supposed to represent new beginnings, gateways etc. It would be an interesting idea to name someone born a Gemini this, but I have always thought it would be an appropriate name for a character in a book who is schizophrenic.

Janice is my mom's name. I think it's a fine name. A bit uncommon today, but a number of women in their 40s-60s are named Janice. I have noticed that some people have a hard time understanding her name. They come out with all sorts of names no matter how many times she repeats it (Pam? Jean? Anne?), so sometimes she just says yes to the first wrong name they say, or she just says Jan. When people read it, they sometimes say Ja-neice, which irritates her a little bit. It's pronounced like Janus. All in all, Janice is a perfectly okay name. It makes me think of my mom and smile, so I like it.

Janice is a little too old fashioned for me, but other than that it's a very nice name.

Good enough, although a bit dated. Janice brings to mind a type of woman who is very stable and stable minded and has a good head on her shoulders. Oddly, I can easily picture a "Janice" who likes to help and provide for others.

Being another form of Jane, it seems nice to have if you're pretty and girly, but ugly to have the opposite way.
Janice is a beautiful name in my opinion, especially since this is the name of my favorite aunt who has practically raised me. She is my confidante and we are very close, so naturally, Janice is a name that really means a lot to me.
This is my name and while I don't love it, I don't hate it either. Any other name on this site, no matter how hideous I consider it, has at least one positive comment posted--except mine! I don't believe one should dislike a name just because the writers of a popular television show elected to use it for an unsympathetic character. Nor do I feel the name Janice is boring--not nearly so much so as Anne, Sue, or Lynn! My name is out of style now, but it just may come back in fifty years or so.
