Jaffar

Jaffar or Jafar, either way it is written, is an Arabic name that holds the meaning of a small but deep river. It is mainly used as a name rather than a word. Also among its meanings is a beautiful river in heaven. Though a very common name in the Middle East, most westerners or at least Americans associate it with Walt Disney production Aladdin, where Jafar is protrayed as a bad guy. To the contrary of this notion the movie has made, people in the Middle Eastern culture believe that naming someone in their family Jafar brings peace and wealth to the family.
