Who could forget the Nintendo game series "Kid Icarus"? The main protagonist, an angel made to represent and portray the character of Icarus from the Greek myth, is a courageous, but far from bright, lad named "Pit."

The band Kansas has a song called Icarus. (It's a rather good song, too.)

In the Fantasy series The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce, darkangels were also called icarus (singular) or icari (plural). This was a great name for them, since they were winged vampires.

A character (Joshua "Jay" Guthrie) in New X-men's codename was Icarus. I think it's a nice name, but a little too delicate-sounding.
