In Anne of Avonlea, Anne and her friends discover an abandoned garden that belonged to Hester Gray, who died at a young age in the garden, thirty years before. (I know it’s by no means famous but that chapter in the book is so beautiful and romantic, it makes me love the name more, and besides, L. M. Montgomery always chose the best names).

Hester Kaplan is an American short story writer, and novelist.
Hester Sherwood is one of the four female characters in Alma De Groen's 2002 play WICKED SISTERS. She is an active and clever computer scientist, feminist and environmentalist who ends up surviving as a cleaner. She has been played by Valerie Bader, Kris McQuade and Jude Parry.
One of the Three Witches of Room 66 in the School for Good and Evil Series is named Hester. She’s one of my favorite characters in the series so this name has a positive connotation for me.

Lady Hester Stanhope was a British socialite, adventurer and traveler. Her archaeological expedition to Ashkelon in 1815 is considered the first modern excavation in the history of Holy Land archeology. Her use of a medieval Italian document is described as "one of the earliest uses of textual sources by field archaeologists".
Hester is a character in Philip Pullman's book, 'Northern Lights' (released as 'The Golden Compass' in the United States). She is the 'daemon' (external anima) of the Texan balloonist, Lee Scoresby, and takes the form of a hare.
