My name is Hector and growing up I didn’t really care for my name. Fast forward to the present day and I couldn’t imagine myself with any other name besides my own.

This name is a very handsome, handsome, handsome name that distinguishes itself with its masculine appeal that I find most endearing.

When I was a kid, there was a saying, Hector Hector, the garbage collector… Horrible, horrible, horrible name.

Meanwhile I love the name Hector. It sounds strong, steadfast and stately to my ears. A wonderful moniker for an equally wonderful person.

I ADORE this name! It's such a shame it isn't used in my country, I would love to name my son Hektor (c is pronounced differently).

One of the good, classic names that you can't go wrong with.

Unlike William, James or Logan (I respect every parent who named their sons these names), Hector sounds sweet and strong. It reminds me of a cute boy and charming man. Lots of people say it's an old name but I don't care.
Howard, Abraham and Hector and extra are all the names I like because of their meanings. It depends on a person's opinion.

Hector is an awesome name. I like the nickname spelt “Hecie” or “Heci”.

I think this name has a timeless charm to it that harkens back to the classical age of antiquity. It also has a warm memory of someone that I knew from long ago who was very special to me.

This has got to be one of my fave names! :) I just think it appears masculine and very strong. I also imagine a very handsome guy when it comes to this name! ;)

We named our first son Hector and everyone has approved of it. It fits both a young child and a grown man. People have said that it sounds noble, strong, courageous. Most importantly... they say it fits our son's personality. Husband was not super keen on it at first, but now we could not imagine our son with any other name. We don't use any of the nicknames.

Some people with this name may not live to the point where it ages okay.

People in my neighborhood with this name are people in their seventies or eighties. So I can’t really imagine a young person with this type of name.

Hector is an appealing human name that is only suitable for people and not pets!

Fantastic name! Unfortunately, a lot of people only think of Hecky for a nickname. What a crime. I call my Hector "Hetty", but I suppose being a cat he can get away with anything for a nickname.

I just had a baby boy a month ago and my dear husband and I decided to name our dear son Hector. We really like the name. It is strong sounding and noble to us. Our dear son is truly living up to his name in his lively behavior despite being so very young. A good name overall.

One of my guilty pleasure names that I have always harbored a soft spot for throughout my life. I like the simplicity and ease one would have in pronouncing such a name like this one.

Hector is a good choice for those seeking noble ancient hero names: in addition to the mythical Trojan, it was the name of the knight who raised King Arthur as his own son.

I absolutely love this name. It sounds strong and mature and is simply beautiful. The Spanish pronunciation is even more gorgeous, but I don't mind the English way. I fell in love with this name after seeing Coco, as Hector is one of my favorite, most inspiring movie characters of all-time. Use this name!

Great name! It sounds young and strong. However, this name lacks good nicknames, but that wouldn't stop me from using it. (the name is short anyway).

I used to not like this name. It gave the impression of being old, and I did not like the way it sounded.
However, I read the Iliad and wow, let me tell you, that changed my whole perspective on the name. Hector was truly a noble man, and now I see the name in such a positive light. I really think if you dislike this name, read the Iliad. It'll give you some different perspective.

I love the name Hector. It sounds strong and honest and the meaning of the character in Homer's Iliad was very noble and honourable. It seems to be fairly unusual, apart from in the Outer Hebrides where it is very common, along with George and Alastair.

Makes me think of the character from "Holes". Loved the movie, but I'm not too fond of the name. I don't know why; I guess it just sounds he-man ish to me.

It's one of those names I never really have considered but it is not an ugly name by any means. :)

When I think of someone named Hector, I think of a mature man with good leadership. But when I think of my COUSIN Hector, I think of a slick, highly attractive teenager who is really mean to me. But that's just my life.

Hector was the noblest hero out of all the main players in the Iliad. I feel as though this name should only go toward the worthy; it's just that sort of name.

This name is fantastic. It is actually being used with some regularity today amongst the middle and upper-classes of the United Kingdom.

I don't agree with that last comment at all. Hector is probably my favorite name of all time. I used to think of this as an old man's name, but now I'd really like to see it resurrected. Now, I picture a distinguished Victorian gentleman (probably has a lot to do with Saki and General Hector MacDonald).

Frankly, I think this name sounds hopelessly old-fashioned and almost pompous today. If I heard a parent shout: ''Hector, come here!'', I'd either roll my eyes or burst out laughing, depending on my mood. The name sounds quite vintage-elitist and harsh. I can only imagine middle-aged and old men named Hector, and, quite frankly, the image I get is that of a hairy and rather chubby man.

This name sounds a little pretentious to me, but it has a ring to it. I actually see this name on all sorts of guys, mainly popular high school/college kids. I will not use this name, however, because it makes me think of that little brat from Sanjay and Craig.

To me, Hector is one of those names which you either love or you hate - I used to hate it but I read a few books and one of the characters were named Hector and I grew to like it. It does seem a bit nerdy though!

I think Hector is a really strong, nice sounding name. It's not really awkward or anything.

To 'Hector' someone means to pester them. I feel sorry for anyone whose name is Hector, for the reason stated previous to this statement.

I think Hector is a wonderful name. It's so handsome and sweet sounding. Plus my boyfriend is named Hector. It makes him sound like a Greek God ;)

I like this name for a character. Sounds very mysterious and interesting.
