King Arthur's foster-father's name WAS Hector. Ector is a shortening of the Latin form of Hector, Ectorius.In T.H. White's "The Once and Future King" he even includes a passage where a child is learning about the Trojan War and asks if Hector of Troy is the name person as Sir Ector.
