I'm genuinely surprised no one has mentioned Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. I love Kurt Vonnegut (he wrote Slaughter House Five if you recognize his name) and Harrison Bergeron is one of my favorite stories ever. It's told through the eyes of a father of a teenage boy (Harrison Bergeron) who lives in a society which attempts to be completely perfect and equal. It ends terribly after Harrison rebels against said government. A very good, short read. I would consider using this for my son because I love the story so much.
