Hamilton

Please don't do this to your child, if you're that obsessed with the musical just name him Alexander or something. He'll just have to hear the musical anytime he introduces himself, and I wouldn't subject my worst enemy to that. Any downvotes this gets are probably just 12 year old theater nerds, lol.

Sounds very surnamey and a bit pretentious. Plus, some people will probably reference the musical.

I think this name sounds sooo cool! I was shocked when I made a friend with the name, and who knew I would marry him and bear the name! I think it's amazingly awesome! Haha WIN WIN!

My name is Hamilton and I was called Ham in school, but it was a nickname and people thought I was cool because of it. They genuinely thought I was special because of my funny name, and I gained popularity because of it.

I fell in love with this name as a first name ever since I saw a show in high school called Young Americans where Ian Somerhalder's character's name was Hamilton. It’s so classy and prestigious sounding but I hated the musical and I don’t like its nicknames. Don’t want him called Hammy.

I actually think Hamilton can work as a first name, but I do prefer it as a surname.

I kind of love this name, simply because of the association with the musical Hamilton. This is also why I love the name Lafayette. I'm extremely musical obsessed, and it's how I find some of my favorite names.

This is my dog's name. I named him after my favorite actress, Margaret Hamilton (Wicked Witch from "The Wizard of Oz"). I call him Ham, Hammy, or Hazmilton (not sure how that one got started...)

I was planning on perhaps giving this to a future son as a middle name, until I got Hamilton. There is nothing pretentious about it. It's lovely with or without a personal meaning.

I can't stand this as a first name. Very pretentious. And what would the guy be called for short? Ham? Milton? Milt? I hate them all. I have never even liked the surname.
