What a wonderful name :)
It's such a very beautiful, strong, classic, and lovely name. ❤❤.
Possible nicknames could be Gwen, Wendy, Lyn, Dolly...
Stunning! I love the nickname Gwennie. I think the combination Gwendolyn Irene is beautiful.
Strong name, I like it a lot. Interesting looking, quite unusual and fits great for serious, strong women. Love it!
This would be my name if I had to change it, although I prefer my real given name. I like the sound of it, it's also very uncommon in my country.
I love the name Gwendolyn! I prefer it spelled Gwendolen, but it is pretty nonetheless!
Beautiful name. Consider using this name if you don't want your girl to be one of the many Emmas in her class. Unique and cute. Like many other people said it never ages. Could be a name for any race. It's not like some other names where it only fits one race.
I hate this name along with Mitzi and Olga. It’s sooooo ugly. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Love it!
I like this name! It is unique and pretty, and it both flows and ages well. As you may be able to tell, I am biased toward long names. Gwen is cute too :)
Well I may be biased, but my late father named me Gwendolyn and I'm so thankful he did. Everyone calls me 'Gwen' which feels perfectly suited for me. I'm tall, fair, blonde, and have a kind personality, and I couldn't imagine my name being anything else. It's always received compliments! Thanks dad.
My name is Gwendolyn. I adore my name. It's actually a Welsh baby name that means fair, blessed, and white browed. The meaning always seemed fitting to me because often times when people think of the name they often think of a gorgeous queen or princess that is blessed and fair to all. My middle name is Kiana, which is a bit strange considering that it translates into Moon Goddess. I have heard that Gwendolyn also does translate into Moon Goddess. Some of my friends prefer to call me Gwen because it's less of a handful. One of my friends even calls me Lynn, and occasionally I go by Wendy. I prefer not to go by Wendy, mainly because I just don't see it suiting me. I'm sure many people think it's a gorgeous name but its just not my thing. I prefer to be called by my real name Gwendolyn, or Lynn. Gwen maybe sometimes, I see it's much easier to say Gwen instead of Gwendolyn because I must admit, that Gwendolyn is quite a handful for some people. Believe it or not I'm 12 and it always suited me when I was younger and it sounds like an mature name for when I'm 20+. I feel like Gwendolyn is a suitable name for all ages, and I really do like it.
Too long, sorry peeps.
One of my middle names, LOVE it!
GROSS! This name is just different, too long. I bet people don't like this name either. Too weird for me.
I just named my baby girl Gwendolyn (we call her Winnie for short"). I originally wanted just Winnie after Peewee Herman's girlfriend in Big Top, but we got a lot of bad feedback. People were like "Winnie the pooh?" And I felt bad if she were to grow up being called a bear's name. The funny thing was that the only people who asked if it was Winnie the pooh were not very intelligent people for lack of a better word, but I ended up finding Gwendolyn after "Winnie Cooper" and love it! And so does everyone else:)
A wonderful name, in my opinion, and the shorter name, Gwen, is also lovely.
I love the name, Gwendolyn is my middle name. I also use Gwen for short.
When christened, the church would not allow Wendy so my parents went with Gwendolyn... I have always been called Wendy, The only person to call me Gwen was my mother who also called me Gwendy and my brother who to this day still calls me Gwen (20 year age difference!) When people find out my name is Gwendolyn I always get - why do they call you Wendy... but as I can see from other posts I am not alone!
My name is Gwendolyn. I LOVE my name. I was named after my grandmother (she was born in 1908), whose folks immigrated from Wales. I was called Wendy as a child, and sometimes wished I could go by Gwennie instead, but I was too shy to ask people to call me that, especially when my siblings laughed at the idea :) When I married, I changed my name from Wendy to Gwen since we were moving to a new state and no one knew me, and it was an easy time to make that change. To be honest, I've struggled knowing which I like best: Gwendolyn, Gwen or Gwennie. I just leave it up to others to call me what they prefer, so some call me Gwen, some call me Gwendolyn, and some Gwennie.
This name is so pretty.
My mother gave me the same name but I didn't like it before because most of my teachers and classmates pronounce it awfully to the extent that I don't want them to call me by it. I preferred being called Gwen or Wendy (which is my nick name) because it sounds more pleasant for me but when my mother told me that she got my name from an elf princess from a fairy tale book I thought it was cool... hehehehe... I totally love my name now. (:D)
I... like it, but something prevents me from loving it. I'm trying to figure out why it makes me think of a goose. XD; Maybe the "g" and "n" and "d" together aren't the *nicest* combination to my ear, or maybe Gosalyn from Darkwing Duck has something to do with it. My only actual association with it is a character from an "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" episode, which stuck out as the first time I'd heard the name, and was somewhat intrigued by it. Verdict: It's nice. Interesting and unusual, anyhow. I do prefer Guinevere by a tad bit.
I like the name Gwendolyn. It sounds magical, and it just sounds really nice. I'm not too fond of the nickname 'Gwen' it sounds a bit harsh and not at all girl's name-like.
I prefer the nicknames Lyn and Wendy, commenting on the above comments!
Not sure if I like this spelling or the Gwendolen spelling better, both are lovely. This name is so great! It's classic yet not overused like say, Sophia or Isabella, and it's more unusual yet not "weird" and is still recognizable. It's also really pretty and feminine, and sounds like a princess name straight from a fairytale! I would love to use this name for a future daughter, and use the nickname Gwen.
I cannot get over this name. Gwendolyn is just so beautiful, classy, and classic. My first daughter (if I have one) will probably be named Gwendolyn.
I like both the original spelling and the modern spelling and the nick name. This name sounds very classic.
Love this name! The nickname Lyn is also very nice.
Very pretty, much more mature and way classier than just Gwen, although that isn't a bad nickname :)
This is the name of my beautiful seven-year-old daughter. If you like old-fashioned names like Evelyn and Emma and Lillian, but you want something less trendy, Gwendolyn fits the bill. It's unique, but not so way-out that people don't recognize it. It also has the built-in cute nickname Gwen (which sadly, some people use whether she wants them to or not... apparently nine letters is beyond the intelligence level of people like my sister-in-law).
AHH! This name is so so cute!
Yuck. Too frilly and a mouthful. I don't like it.
I used to hate it (see my above comments) but now I think it's absolutely GORGEOUS! I might even name my daughter it!
Nevermind, I think it's okay now. Makes me think of flowers. Though still too long.
Mouth full. And overflowing.
I'm so pleased to read that Gwendolyn is receiving such positive feedback. Gwendolyn really is a sweet, classic name. I prefer it in full, without any nicknames.
When I hear Gwendolyn, I think of a beautiful princess with curly hair who is generous to all. I love it.
The name Gwendolyn is old fashioned but perfect for a little girl, too. I had a friend named Gwendolyn when I was little, and she went by the name Gwen.
I do love this name, because it sounds nice for a little girl. If I ever have a child, I'll name her this.
This is such a gorgeous name. Possible nicknames are: Gwen, Gwennie, Gwenda, Wenda, Wendy, Lyn, Lynnie, Winnie, and Dolly.
I love this name, and I like the nickname Gwennie.
This is a very pretty name, although I think I prefer Guinevere.
My grandmother's middle name is Gwendolyn and I think it's rather nice for a first name and middle name. I think Wendy would be a nice nickname for Gwendolyn too (gWENDolYn).
I really love this name too. I wrote a story one time, and there was a character named Gwendolyn, and she was a fairy! Just like the above posters said the name sounded like.
I love this name. I agree with the above poster that it has a fairy-tale princess quality to it, which I love in a name.
Gwendolyn is my own name and I like it a lot. I think it sounds very magical and fairy tale-ish. When I hear the name I picture someone who has a bit of a fairy-air around her. Someone who didn't even know my name is Gwendolyn (I go by Lyn) once told me I had something magical, something elfish about me... I also really like the spelling Gwendolen, which is the original spelling.
