Giuseppina Bozzacchi (1853-1870) was an Italian ballet dancer noted for creating the role of Swanilda in the ballet Coppélia. Tragically, she contracted a fever during the siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War and died on her seventeenth birthday.
Giuseppina Strepponi (1815-1897) was a renowned Italian opera singer, whose roles included Abigaille in Nabucco and Leonora in Oberto. She was also the second wife of Giuseppe Verdi.
