Short and sweet, totally recommend!
I really like this name. It's not my favorite, no, but I still think it is beautiful. If this is not a nickname, just someone's full name then I think it works better as a middle name. Such as Annabeth Ginny or Rachel Ginny or Lilian Ginny. This is a good nickname for Virginia.
My name is Georgina but I go by Ginny. My mam wanted to name me after her great auntie Ginny but wanted a fuller, longer name so used her mother’s name (my grandmother's name.) I love my name and I haven’t heard of anyone else called Georgina who’s nickname is Ginny. However, someone once thought my name was pronounced with a hard G (like guinea from guinea pig). My name also gets confused with Jimmy and Jenny, especially at a Starbucks! My name is often associated with Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter but I love the character so it makes me love my name even more!
I think it's cute as a nickname, though it's pretty much been ruined for me because of an association. Ginny sounds too youthful and nicknamey for a real name.
This is my sister's name (short for Virginia) and it is such a pretty name! She gets compliments on it all the time. We have never met anyone named Ginny before, so it is fairly uncommon, however most people are familiar with the name!
It's an okay name. But for some reason, I always want to pronounce it with a hard G, which would make for a hideous name!
I have always really liked this name. There's a warmth and friendliness to it. I first heard it from the show Little House on the Prairie. The character named Ginny was either a cousin or sister to the main character Laura Ingles.I would think it could be a nickname for not only Virginia, but also Genevieve and Ginger. I probably wouldn't use it by itself, but as a nickname I love it!
I picture a girl with locks and dressed in a checkered dress and a percale apron, running down a field.
I hate this name. As a Harry Potter fan, when I see this name, I think of it as the pet form of Ginevra. I LOVE that name, and "Ginny" is just a childish insult to it.Many people hear it and spell it Jenny - which is much too common to be associated with Ginevra, even by mistake.
I also like Ginevra and dislike Ginny. However, it seems to me that a name like Ginevra needs a nickname, and Ginny is the most logical one; it's interesting that Ginevra seems very mature and elegant to me while Ginny is sort of down to earth and childish.
It's just a name, Emmasj. It's not that serious.
Ginny is cool name, it reminds of my favorite book.
