I am used to the spelling of Gale as the masculine form and Gail as feminine. My uncle was Gale and I had a girlfriend Gail. I prefer the name on a man.

When I hear or read the name Gale I can only think at one person: Gale Hawthorn from the Hunger Games.
Here in Holland, we have a lot of English names the last years, but we never hear the name Gale, in whatever form they write it. That's sad, because I like this name a lot.
Maybe I'll go name my child Gale, if I get a boy one.
