Elizabeth Fraser as mentioned in the comments before mine, was also in the band This Mortal Coil, this was some time after they formed the Cocteau Twins. Both bands worth listening to in my opinion and Elizabeth Fraser's voice is indeed other worldly. I think she was classically trained.
