Finn McCool, a classic hero in Irish legend and mythology. Originally spelled Fion, in Irish it means "Fair, white". "Fion" is phonetically spoken as, "Finn", and Finn is the Anglicanized spelling for the name.
Winona Ryder played a girl named Finn in the movie How to Make an American Quilt. In the movie, it was assumed she was named Finn because her mother had been a hippy. When she meets a guy at a local pool, he asks her name, to which he does a double-take. She then says, "Finn, like a fish?" Then he understands. I think this name is SO cute on a boy, and even though I love that movie, I still cannot imagine the name for a girl. At least for me, it's a masculine name all the way.

Finn is a character from the cartoon show "Adventure Time." My favorite quote of his: "When I look at you, my brain goes all stupid, and I just wanna hug you and sit on the couch and play Beemo with you."

Weirdly, I've met multiple people who have chosen this name for a child because they like Neil Finn. I was looking recently at the top names of my birth year and Finn is a top 100 name, I can only imagine that is why. Cool guy to be named after.
