Is it weird I want to pronounce this Evangelina like Carolina? I really like that, just wonder if anyone else out there pronounces it like that.
Variant English Pronunciations: i-van-jə-LIE-nə, ie-van-jə-LEE-nə, ie-van-jə-LIE-nə.
The provided English pronunciation is incorrect. While Evangeline is pronounced i-VAN-jə-leen (or ee-VAN-jə-leen), adding an -a at the end changes the rhythm. Keeping the emphasis on VAN here is just awkward. Evangelina's pronunciation in English would coincide more with the pronunciation of Angelina than Evangeline: i-van-jə-LEE-nə. [noted -ed]
In Spanish, it's pronounced e-vahn-heh-LEE-nah. Isn't it pretty?
