I love this name. The pronunciation and the Greek background make it incredibly cool. I’d love this name for a character or similar. However I think it’s strange that someone would want to name their child after sexual love. That’s a weird thing to put on your child.
My name is literally EROS omg omg omg omg omg omg I love my name so much. It's good, it's a good name for your child, Eros is good. Pronounced as Air'os. AND WHOEVER EVER SAID THAT MY NAME IS HORRIBLE CAN GO ROT IN HECK!
I can't say I'm dissuaded by the religious baggage of the name, or by the varied roles the deity was meant to take in context. Though the willingness of those made aware of such things using that mytho-history as an excuse to get pretentious rather than curious about the adaptation of faith in relation to human experience is always gonna bother me.
I think erotic love is something nice. But I wouldn't use the name anyway. Although it's an old and kind of time-honored name, it would be associated with nasty things, like porn.
