Elio Filippo Accrocca (17 April 1923 – 11 March 1996) was an Italian poet, author, and translator. Having been born in Cori, Lazio, Accrocca studied at the University of Rome under the modernist poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, who remained a core influence on his poetry. From the mid-1950s, Accrocca began experimenting in new directions. He was an associate of many other figures in the Italian cultural scene, among them both literary figures like Alessandro Parronchi and artists like Marco Lusini. From 1977 he taught arts at the Accademia di belle arti di Foggia where he also worked as its director. Accrocca died in Rome, aged 72.
Elio Fiorucci (10 June 1935 – 19 July 2015) was an Italian fashion designer and the founder of the Fiorucci fashion label. Fiorucci is credited with designing and popularising stretch jeans, and for transforming the fashion scene. Giorgio Armani described him as a revolutionary, adding: "He was always ready to take some risks to really understand his time".
Elio Vittorini (23 July 1908 – 12 February 1966) was an Italian writer and novelist. He was a contemporary of Cesare Pavese and an influential voice in the modernist school of novel writing. His best-known work is the anti-fascist novel Conversations in Sicily, for which he was jailed when it was published in 1941. The first U.S. edition of the novel, published in 1949, included an introduction from Ernest Hemingway, whose style influenced Vittorini and that novel in particular.
Elio Toaff (30 April 1915 – 19 April 2015) was the Chief Rabbi of Rome from 1951 to 2002. He served as a rabbi in Venice from 1947, and in 1951 became the Chief Rabbi of Rome.
Elio Bartolini (1922, Conegliano, Veneto, Italy, - April 30, 2006, Santa Marizza di Varmo, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy) was an Italian writer, screenwriter and poet. He was a co-author of screenplays of Michelangelo Antonioni's Il grido (1957), L'Avventura (1960) and L'Eclisse (1962). In 1975 he directed his only film, L'altro dio.
Elio Perlman is one of the main characters in "Call Me By Your Name": a novel in 2007 and film adaptation in 2017. In the movie Elio is played by Timothée Chalamet.
