To add a post script and a historical correction to the comment below: I came across an archive the other day regarding the appearance of the name Eilís /Eye-leesh/. It seems it initially showed up in village, county and provincial birth records during the 15th and 16th centuries in Ireland; specifically, the Province (formerly Kingdom) of Munster - the southwestern corner of Éire that consists of the counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford. (All of this commenter's ancestry come from one of these with the exception of County Laois (pronounced /Leesh/); in the Province of Leinster); which is just a short journey north-east of Tipperary. So, Eilís is - as a new name - particularly fitting for this contributor).
