Edda Bresciani (23 September 1930 – 29 November 2020) was an Italian Egyptologist. She excavated at several places in Egypt and is mainly known for her work at several sites in the Faiyum, most notably the temple of Medinet Maadi.
Benito Mussolini's daughter and oldest child was named Edda. After her husband voted against the dictator, Edda appealed to her father, but without success.
Contrary to popular belief, Audrey Hepburn's real name was not Edda. She was born Audrey Kathleen Ruston in Brussels in 1929. However, she did unofficially adopt the name Edda during the war when it was dangerous to have an English-sounding name in occupied Europe.
