I can’t believe I would’ve been named Dora if I was a girl. I HATE the name Dora. I would’ve literally been bullied in school because of the dumb show Dora The Explorer. It’s also super dated, boring, and dull. Ugh. Glad I wasn’t a girl and won’t have to be stuck with such a stupid goofy name like this one.
You know? It’s a real shame that Dora The Explorer is such a huge associate for the name. It’s a name that I’ve always loved. When I was younger, I liked to watch “Dora The Explorer”. Though, most of my generation would probably make fun of this name. It’s very unique and special, so I hope it makes a comeback soon. Dora is loads better than Pandora, Isadora, and Adora, in my opinion. If you like it, I say…don’t listen to those who say, “Swiper, no swiping!”.
I don't know of a SINGLE person who can see the name, Dora, and NOT associate it with Dora the Explorer. Seriously, I would say it was a nice name if it weren't for dumb Dora the Explorer! >:(
For me, this name is burned for a lifetime because of the association to the Concentration Camp "Dora Mittelbau" which is famous for cruelty among the Concentration Camps: It was located in a subterranean mine and the V2 weapons were produced there.
I don’t like Dora The Explorer because she’s ugly, I do hope people who are actually called Dora aren’t ugly too! Dora is a pretty name but I seriously don’t like Dora The Explorer. People named Dora should still be proud of their name though. Dora is a super beautiful name and I think only special females will get called this.

Good before the gross children's show started airing. Just go with Theodora.

Don't give your child this name. Imagine if she sees Dora Gets Grounded.

Dora is so pretty! I used to love Dora the Explorer, too. Fun times.
My great grandma is Dora. I think she was Dora Fern, and she was born way before Dora The Explorer and bore it well. It's a really nice name in my opinion, but I would rather use Fern to honor her.

I hate this name. Probably because of Dora the Explorer, but the name is disgusting.
It reminds me too much of Dora the Explorer. There's something else about this name I don't like, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps the "DOOR" part.

Even though I hate the Dora the Explorer association, in my eyes, I see Dora as a very cute, sweet and happy name. It's such an underused name. The name Dora sounds lovely and should be cut the constant slack.

I think Dora is a very pretty, charming and old-fashioned name. I could see myself using it.
I think Dora is a kind of cute name, but I can't stand the overly-obnoxious Dora The Explorer. I like Nymphadora Tonks, though. All in all, not including fictional characters, it's a very sweet name.
I admit that it is a pretty name, but unfortunately people will associate it with Dora the Explorer. That annoying, overexposed cartoon is everywhere, and a little girl named Dora might get teased for it.
LOL yeah I've worked with kids for about 7 1/2 years and although this is a cute name, I still can't help but think about Dora the Explorer and her pet monkey traveling around the world and her parents are okay with that.
It'd be wise to wait a few years until 'Dora the Explorer' is long forgotten. Any Dora of the early 2000's will probably be teased. "Swiper, no swiping!"
The name is admittedly old-fashioned, but sometimes names that have been unused for decades become popular again, and this could be one of them. I don't see why it couldn't. After all, the name is short, simple, it doesn't have unpleasant sound elements, and it is, in fact, pretty, even if not as pretty as Cora. I simply don't like the fact that it's derived from Theodora and thus Theodore.
After a while, it sort of grows on you, but I always think of someone sickly when I hear Dora.

My grandmother is called Dora and she hates the name so everyone calls her Ilene because she prefers her middle name. Personally I think Dora is very old-fashioned and it is not a very nice name.
