This was my paternal grandmother's name. I've never met anyone else with her name and I've always loved how unique it is. I don't think it is as popular in modern times but I think it's still beautiful! Simple and sweet.
My name is Madelyn and I go by Della! I think it is much nicer than Maddie.
It's a beautiful name with a great meaning.
Simple and sweet.
Della is a really pretty name and a great alternative to Ella. I also like Ella, but this name just takes the cake. A similar sounding name that I love would be Adella.
Della is a beautiful name! I love how it looks and sounds and the general vibe of it. It makes me think of someone very joyful and happy and full of beans and curiosity. While it sounds rather playful and is short, I think it's still substantial enough to be a name in its own right, but is also a great nickname for all sorts of names related to Adelaide, Adelina, Adele etc. I like it way more than Addie which I'm not a fan of. Also it would be a gorgeous nickname for something like Delphina/Delfina/Delphine, Adelphia, Delphia, Delilah, Delyth, Delwen etc. While I like Ella, Bella, Stella and co. I think Della feels a lot fresher and more surprising.
One of my absolute favorite names for a girl! I like Della and Doris for D names for girls. Della and Doris would also make nice names for twin girls as well.
Gorgeous! I usually prefer long names, but Della is one of the few short names that I like. I also love the actress Della Reese.
Cute, though I would more prefer Addie as a nickname for Adelaide.
This deserves much more recognition! ❤️.
I like this MUCH better than Bella and Ella. Kinda sucks that this name is overridden by the two...
My four year old daughter's name is Della, and there will never be another. It’s is the cutest name for the cutest girl! We named her after my husband's grandmother who died right before Del was born. Everyone who sees her says her name's perfect for her! A lot of people have never heard of it. It’s classic but unique! And Della being so short I wouldn’t think she would have a nickname but we call her Dell Bell, Delly, Del some times just Bell.. but she has learned to say it’s Della with a D.. everyone thinks Bella or Stella.
I personally adore the name Della. I was looking for an old-fashioned name that would fit my character; she is a teenage-girl born in 1946, filled with compassion, strength, life. I needed the name to be associated to her greased black hair, gorgeous gray eyes and sharp, beautiful features. I came across many names that were quite pretty, but I knew my character deserved an even better name: I needed it to be powerful, yet fit for the heart of a girl her young age. One day I hazardly found Della. It immediately caught my attention. Saying it in my head and out loud, I thought it sounded both elegant and badass as well, which was the perfect portrayal for my character. I also think it’s a gorgeous, magnificent name for a person, and not only for a fictional character. This name is of a remarkable beauty and is highly underrated. I also love how it could be the diminutive of lots of names (ex: Delaney, Adeline, Adelaide, Adele, Delphine, the list goes on). I favor it to Bella (which is also a beautiful name).I’d love more than anything for my name to be Della because I feel it as mine. If I ever have a daughter, I’d like it very much for her name to be Della, as I think it’s aged very well. My only issue is the fact I speak Italian and French as well, and that although the name Della remains the same in both languages, it doesn’t sound nearly as beautiful and strong and elegant as it does in English. Especially in French, the name doesn’t sound good to me at all. This is really my only concern, but the name itself is grand.
Could be a nickname for Delphia, prettier than Delphine or Delphina.
My name is Della. I love the name my parents gave me, it's so different, and a unique name.
It's been so hard to find my name in jewellery and a lot of stuff. That's why I think my name Della is so powerful, strong, understanding, loving, giving, and empathy, lightworker, happy, sensitive, etc...
Thank you Mom and Dad. May you both rest in peace. Till we meet again...
Della is my great grandmother's first name, though she goes by her middle name. I asked her why she doesn’t go by Della, if she doesn’t like it or whatnot. She replied that her parents always called her by her middle name. I think this name is gorgeous and it’s on my list ;)
This is the form of her name my grandma uses. Her actual name is Ardella.
This name was used by my dad's grandmother, and I've always loved it. I think it's cute! El, Ellie, or Ella can be great nick names.
Della is beautiful and classy. Just like Barbara Hale and the character she portrayed for so long, Della Street.
Del in Welsh means "pretty" and has given rise to "Delyth" so Del makes a cute nickname for Della, though it hardly needs one.
The name Della is extemely ugly in my opinion. It's a weird name. The "Dell" part reminds me of the computer company. :/ I think Bella and Ella are prettier names.
The name Della has actually grown on me! I take back what I said! I now think this name is just as pretty as Bella and Ella. :D.
I like this as a nickname for Delphine or Delphina.
This is my mom's middle name. I find it very, very pretty. If I ever have a daughter, her name might be Della.
I love this name! It sounds s simple and elegant, and it's quite unique, the only Della I've ever heard of is Della Reese.
Della reminds me of a beautiful young woman with pale skin and dark, questioning eyes, and naturally dark, curly hair. And it ages quite well, too.
I think Della is a lovely and strong name. I know someone who has this name only it's spelled "Delah."
I think the name Della is very pretty. It comes off as elegant, but strong.
The name Della is very elegant and pretty.
