Darwin (and Derwin) could be considered a modern English form of the Old English feminine name "Deorwynn" [in the Submitted Names Database] meaning "beloved (or dearest) joy". (Source: https://anglisc.miraheze.org/wiki/Anglish_Given_Names)Darwin could be Latinized to become "Darwina" or "Darwinna". Based on endings of other Old English feminine names ending in -wynn (like -wyn, -wynne, -wen, -wena and -wenna), I imagine that Darwynn, Darwyn, Darwynne, Darwen, Darwena and Darwenna could work as other forms. Unfortunately I can't find sources showing these though.
The name Darwin was given to 259 boys born in the US in 2016.
More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Darwin are male.
My son had a little girl in his class named Darwin. Wasn't the gender I expected when first hearing the name - I wouldn't recommend the name as unisex, but it obviously can be.
This can also be a feminine name, I have seen it on a little girl before.
