Dale Spender (1943–2023) was an Australian feminist author, teacher, researcher and activist who wrote several books, including Man Made Language (1980), Women of Ideas and What Men Have Done to Them (1982) and Nattering on the Net: Women, Power and Cyberspace (1995). Dale Spender also helped to found a number of publishing imprints, series and journals – the most notable of which was Pandora Press, a feminist imprint of Routledge, in 1983, where she was editor-at-large. In 2001, Dale Spender co-founded the charity Second Chance Programme Fundraising Group for homeless women in Australia. As recognition of her work, Dale Spender was appointed Member of the Order of Australia in the 1996 Australia Day honours.

Dale Ishimoto was an American actor of Japanese descent. He was born in Delta, Colorado in 1923 and was raised in Guadalupe, California. After being sent to the Gila River internment camp in Arizona, Ishimoto volunteered to fight in World War II, joining the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. After two years, he was awarded a Purple Heart and given a medical discharge.
